Job Summary
Conduct triaging, gather patient information, and take vital signs for sick animals. Perform diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work, assist with surgical procedures and patient monitoring, and administer IV and IM injections. Place IV catheters, maintain feeding and urinary tubes, and dispense controlled drugs while monitoring surgeries. Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues, work effectively with computers and electronics, and handle hazardous materials or unpleasant odors as needed. Lift patients up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and frequently bend, twist, and squat. Requires at least one year of veterinary experience as an assistant or technician.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
- Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
- Ability to provide high quality customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.
- Ability to lift patients up to 40lbs throughout the workday with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of veterinary experience as an assistant or technician preferred.
