Job Summary
Assist the veterinarian by performing health checks, preparing animals for surgery, and administering vaccinations and medications under veterinary supervision. Responsibilities include collecting blood, urine, and stool samples; assisting with diagnostic exams and medical procedures; maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of medication and equipment; data entry of medical information; and providing excellent customer service to clients and visitors. Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, work some nights and weekends, and pass a background check. Familiarity with animal-management software and ability to learn new systems is required. Experience in shelter veterinary care and ability to handle animals that may be abused or injured are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years’ experience in veterinary assistant/technician role preferred
- Certification in euthanasia may be required
- Valid, Georgia Driver's license may be required
- Registered Veterinary Technician a plus
