Job Summary
Admit patients by completing paperwork and deposits, discharge hospitalized horses following doctor approval, and monitor sick or injured equines while communicating findings. Assist with radiographs, nuclear scintigraphy, lameness exams, surgeries, emergencies, and triage as needed. Keep horses exercised, groomed, fed, and watered, clean stalls, and ensure hospital areas are stocked while following disinfecting policies. Work independently in a high-stress, multi-doctor environment with on-call availability required. Part-time schedule includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Part Time (Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays, On Call availability required)
- Must be able to work well without direct supervision
- Must be able to work with a team
- Must be able to work in high stress situations
- Must be able to work in a continuously changing, multiple doctor hospital environment
- Must have excellent prioritizing skills
- Must have problem-solving skills
- Must possess knowledge of equine husbandry
- Must possess knowledge of equine restraint
- Must be able to catch and restrain horses of all types and dispositions
- Must be able to supervise hospital volunteers
- Must be able to safely lift and or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to safely lift and or move objects weighing up to 1000 lbs with assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Desire to go to veterinary school
- Extensive horse experience
