Job Summary
Clean, prepare, and sterilize surgical equipment and instrument packs; run CT scans and obtain orthopedic and standard radiographs. Safely restrain patients for examinations and anesthetic procedures, assist with surgical case preparation, and set up the surgery department daily. Accurately obtain and record patient vital signs while assisting with appointments and patient history collection. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and client service teams while maintaining flexibility for a rotating schedule. Work four 10-hour shifts per week in Suffolk County's only VECCS Level 2 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
- Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred
- Surgical, anesthesia, radiology, or specialty hospital experience is a plus
- Strong patient handling and restraint skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
