Job Summary
Greet patients, their pets, vendors, and visitors; answer questions, direct traffic, and field all phone calls and emails. Register new patients, update records, distribute forms, and process bills and payments while maintaining confidentiality. Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures, including animal handling and restraint of pets up to 40 pounds. Obtain health histories, ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, and maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas. This full-time position at Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Port Charlotte, FL, supports a trauma and emergency facility handling life-threatening injuries like gunshot wounds, lacerations, and heatstroke. The team manages high-stress environments, nights, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on compassionate care and continuous skill advancement.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other)
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
- Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
- Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude
- Must be able to anticipate and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds
- Must be able to work on feet most of the day
