Job Summary
Support the practice team by implementing outlined policies, operating medical equipment for lab, radiology, and anesthesia, and handling animal bodily fluids. Perform veterinary assistant skills to aid veterinarians, review client invoices, and manage controlled substance logs. Communicate patient updates in real time using PIMS while maintaining accurate inventory records and cleaning workspaces after every interaction. Complete required compliance training and follow Standard Operating Procedures. Work weekends and travel as needed in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited veterinary assistant program
- Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary assistant skills checklist for Veterinary Assistant
- 0 - 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in practice
- Experience in veterinary medicine
- Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus
- Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and compassion
- Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Standing or walking up to 80% per shift
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift
- Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift
- Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel
- Must be able to work weekends
- Position may require some travel
