Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, while preparing patients for surgery and monitoring vital signs during procedures. Obtain blood and stool samples, perform in-house laboratory testing, and take or develop radiographs following safety protocols. Provide basic animal handling, administer medications and vaccines at the veterinarian's discretion, and educate clients on care and procedures. Clean exam rooms, restock supplies, and maintain medical equipment. Monitor hospitalized pets and maintain inventory. Work weekends as required with a salary of $20-$22 per hour. Full-service animal hospital offering health, dental, and vision insurance.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work on weekends as required
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
Desired Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience preferred
