Job Summary
Provide compassionate, professional care to patients and clients while assisting veterinarians during outpatient exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures. Safely restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments, administer medications, draw up vaccines, collect lab samples, and perform basic lab tests. Communicate clearly with clients and team members, answer phones, route inquiries, and educate clients on vaccinations and treatment protocols. Create, review, and enter treatment plans accurately in the medical record system, record patient information, and assist with the client check-out process including payments. Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital spaces as clean, stocked, and well-maintained. Work a flexible schedule available during all practice hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to use practice management software
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work safely around cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work safely around anesthetic gases
- Ability to work safely around radiation
- Ability to work safely around zoonotic diseases
- Ability to work safely around animal bodily fluids
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in emotionally challenging or high-stress situations
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely handle animals up to 130 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods throughout the workday
- Professional, neat appearance consistent with hospital standards
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Availability for scheduling during all hours the practice is open
