Job Summary

Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams, surgery, and dental procedures by taking histories, vital signs, and weights while preparing patients and administering medications at the veterinarian's discretion. Collect samples, perform in-house laboratory testing, and develop radiographs following safety protocols. Provide basic animal restraint, monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, and maintain clean exam and lab areas. Communicate with clients and team members to ensure patient care and satisfaction. This full-time role at an AAHA-accredited Winston-Salem practice requires previous veterinary assistant experience and offers a $500 sign-on bonus upon completing 60 days of employment.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary assistant experience
  • Strong knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • Ability to confidently communicate with doctors, technicians, assistants, and clients
  • Comfortable with animal restraint and safe handling techniques
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Compassionate and gentle handling of animals
  • Comfortable working with pets of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs
  • Able to recognize changes in patient behavior and communicate concerns
  • Provides excellent care and attention to every patient
  • Reliable and dependable
