Job Summary
Manage and coach Veteran Peer Navigators to strengthen service delivery while providing day-to-day support to veteran households across the five boroughs of NYC. Assist participants in defining goals related to housing stability, homeless prevention, and benefits maximization by coordinating referrals for internal and external housing, health, legal, and employment services. Screen applicants, conduct assessments, and accompany veterans to appointments at DSS, VA, SSA, and courts while documenting all engagements according to organizational standards. Lead required staff meetings, training sessions, and case conferences to ensure consistent competencies across the team. Represent the agency to funders and community stakeholders, attending outreach events and service fairs to recruit new participants.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Military Service/Veteran of U.S Active, Reserve or National Guard service
- family member of U.S. Military servicemember/veteran
- H.S. Diploma
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience or combination of experience and military leadership
- Leadership capability to manage, coach, and develop Veteran Peers while also delivering direct peer support and services
- Ability to travel via public transit across the S:US service area, up to 80% of the time
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in an office setting and at sites across NYC five days a week
- Ability to travel to work sites and across multiple locations daily when needed to support program participants
- Willingness and ability to work with a vibrant and diverse population of veteran households
