Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical treatment of animals by handling intake, surgery, laboratory diagnostics, radiographs, and animal restraint. Enter animals into the shelter system following proper protocols, educate the public on animal health, and demonstrate SFAS policies. Help with vaccinations, maintain clinic and kennel cleanliness, and support the Medical Director with staff scheduling, inventory control, and process updates. Work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary communication. Requires high school diploma, four years of veterinary technician experience, and leadership experience in a high-volume clinic or shelter.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/staff/patrons
- Excellent computer proficiency
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary communication
- Sense of urgency, attention to detail, and flexibility
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Ability to have flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the clinic
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous veterinary technician of four years duration
- Previous leadership experience in a high volume clinic AND shelter
