Job Summary
At-sea seafood processor duties aboard the M/V Excellence include operating production machinery and handling roe/surimi/fishmeal/fillet production, prepping products for packing, working in a freezer hold, loading/unloading the vessel, operating a forklift, and performing factory cleanup. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working 12–16 hour shifts, seven days a week in a cold, damp environment. Employees will live and work aboard the vessel for up to 120 days with limited communication, and must follow safety protocols in basic English. A pre-employment drug test is required, with participation in the random drug testing program as required by the US Coast Guard. Housing and meals are provided, with overtime pay and a season-ending bonus; benefits include 401(k) with company match and medical/dental/vision insurance. Equal employment opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Work 12–16-hour shifts, 7 days a week in a fast-paced environment
- Perform repetitive tasks that require standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, etc. for long periods
- Work in a cold, damp environment
- Ability to speak and read basic English as well as the ability to follow written, verbal, and visual instructions in English
- Live and work aboard a vessel for up to 120 days with minimal communication with friends and family
- Capable of boarding and exiting the vessel independently, either by climbing a gangway or using a Jacob’s ladder
- Completion of a pre-employment drug test and participation in random drug testing as required by the US Coast Guard
- Strong physical fitness to handle heavy items and endure 12-16 hour shifts
- Willingness to work in a factory environment that operates 24 hours a day with shifts seven days a week
- Basic English for safety and emergency protocols
