Job Summary
Develop market and application maps by segmenting verticals across geography, product, and customer needs to identify concentrated demand and growth opportunities. Conduct customer discovery interviews to understand jobs to be done, unmet needs, and decision criteria, then synthesize findings into segment profiles and buying process dynamics. Analyze competitors and substitutes to clarify Timken's competitive position, while applying proprietary frameworks to size opportunity spaces and prioritize growth initiatives. Translate these insights into strategic options, value propositions, and activation plans that guide cross-functional teams on where to play and how to win. Create concise artifacts such as application maps, segment profiles, and prioritization views to support robust growth strategy development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Marketing, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in B2B market research, strategy, marketing, product management, business development, consulting, or a related commercial role
- industrial market experience
- Strong curiosity and learning agility
- ability to quickly learn new markets, applications, technologies, methods, and frameworks
- Experience applying structured frameworks, methodologies, or playbooks to identify opportunities, develop insights, and support growth decisions
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research, synthesize insights, and translate findings into clear business implications
- Strong analytical, storytelling, communication, and collaboration skills

- ability to work effectively across functions
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel for customer interviews, field research, and internal working sessions
