Job Summary

Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered medical care while supporting continuity in rural and underserved communities. Participate in call, inpatient, outpatient, emergency, or procedural coverage, including short-term or per diem roles during vacancies or increased demand. Support clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory readiness by collaborating with nursing, advanced practice providers, and operational leaders. Engage in medical staff leadership, peer review, credentialing, or governance, and help develop clinical programs and service lines. Mentor clinicians, support physician recruitment and retention, and advise executive leadership on clinical matters. Build trusted relationships with patients, families, employees, and community partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
  • Current board certification or board eligibility in the relevant specialty
  • Eligibility for Vermont physician licensure
  • Current DEA registration when required
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and professional judgment
  • The ability to adapt to the needs of a rural healthcare environment
  • Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, FQHCs, long-term care organizations, or community healthcare settings
  • Previous medical leadership experience for CMO, medical director, or physician executive roles
  • A patient-centered, team-focused, and community-minded approach
