Job Summary
Lead accounting, finance, revenue cycle, billing, coding, or patient financial services functions while supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, develop budgets and forecasts, and strengthen billing, collections, and reimbursement performance. Monitor key revenue cycle metrics, ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, and prepare for audits. Oversee patient accounts and financial counseling, train employees, and collaborate with clinical, operational, IT, and executive leaders. Develop policies, workflows, and internal controls to improve organizational sustainability. This role may include positions such as Controller, Finance Director, Revenue Cycle Manager, or Billing Director across Vermont's Critical Access Hospitals, rural clinics, and FQHCs.
Required Qualifications
- Progressive experience in healthcare finance, accounting, revenue cycle, billing, coding, reimbursement, or patient financial services
- Previous leadership experience as a director, manager, controller, supervisor, or comparable leader
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payer requirements, billing practices, and financial operations
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and patient-pay accounts
- An understanding of hospital, clinic, or healthcare-system workflows
- Experience analyzing financial or revenue cycle performance and communicating findings to leadership
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and team-development skills
- Experience within rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, FQHCs, long-term care organizations, or community healthcare settings
- Relevant education or professional credentials based on the position
- A collaborative and relationship-focused leadership style

- Some opportunities may prefer credentials such as CPA, CHFP, CRCR, CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or other finance, coding, revenue cycle, or health information certifications
