Verification/Authorization Specialist

Collect all necessary documentation and contact clients to complete required prior authorizations for testing. Submit timely and accurate prior and retro authorization requests to payors while ensuring proper procedure codes and ICD-10 diagnosis codes are entered. Input authorizations, update miscellaneous screens, and provide data entry for the level of care arranged by funding sources. Generate "expected collections" reports to notify patients of cost responsibilities and correct patient account errors. Maintain referred physician National Provider Identifier (NPI) and robust documentation of authorization processes. Collaborate with departments to process forms, assist patients and staff with authorization issues, and communicate denial or appeal information. Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations while working independently under tight deadlines.
