Job Summary
Patrol assigned campus routes and respond to calls regarding crises, accidents, and crimes. Investigate offenses, collect evidence, and arrest perpetrators while filing legal incident reports and testifying in court. Provide traffic control, escort personnel, and operate equipment including firearms per safety procedures. Maintain emotional control under stress and work cooperatively with other agencies. May serve on behavioral threat assessment teams. Requires Texas Peace Officer License, high school diploma, and ability to pass physical, psychiatric, and drug tests. On call 24 hours a day. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Texas Peace Officer License issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license
- General knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal laws
- Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs
- Bonded as required by Texas Education Code §37.081(h)
- Ability to pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug tests
- Ability to work well with youth and adults
- Background in law enforcement or related work experience
- Specific hearing and visual requirements
- Ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Prolonged hours
- On call 24 hours a day
- Moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds)
- Ability to work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather)
- Moderate exposure to noise
- Frequent districtwide travel
- Ability to effectively communicate with and elicit information from emotionally distraught students, staff, parents, and citizens
