Job Summary
Lead research and development initiatives in mine ventilation, focusing on automation, control systems, and heating and cooling solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies and drive their integration into operations using advanced modelling tools like Ventsim Design, Ventsim Control, and Deswik. Develop ventilation strategies, standards, and performance indicators while collaborating with universities, consultants, and industry partners. Act as a key contact for workshops and knowledge-sharing forums, with specific expertise in ventilation control, ventilation-on-demand, and cooling-on-demand applications. This role supports the transition toward electrified and automated mining at LKAB's Malmberget site.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. level or higher education in mining
- experience in a ventilation-related role within the mining industry
- Advanced modelling skills in Ventsim
- practical experience working with mine ventilation automation and control systems
- A driver's license (Swedish B-class minimum)
Desired Qualifications
- emphasis, additional, or continued education in mine ventilation
- ventilation research experience
- hands-on industry experience over purely academic work
- Knowledge of Ventsim Control
- Deswik software
- ABB Ability Ventilation Optimizer
- Other language skills
- A thorough understanding of cave mining, especially sublevel and block caving
