Job Summary
Ventilation Officer responsible for managing mine ventilation and gas systems in an underground coal operation. Provides expert ventilation and gas management advice to support operational performance and mine optimisation, develops and communicates ventilation and gas management plans aligned with short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning, conducts gas monitoring including bag sampling, tracks system performance, and identifies opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, and system performance. Requires Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or relevant Coal Industry qualifications/experience, Formal Ventilation Officer Certificate of Competency (QLD), and Current Practising Certificate. Permanent full-time with 7 on, 7 off rotation; Domestic relocation to Middlemount; FIFO options; competitive salary plus superannuation and annual bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or relevant Coal Industry qualifications/experience
- Formal qualifications as a Ventilation Officer Certificate of Competency (QLD)
- Current Practising Certificate
- Extensive demonstrated experience in an underground coal mining operation as well as specialist knowledge in ventilation
- Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to influence and build relationships across site and technical experts in our Corporate office
- A strong background in ensuring hazard identification and risk assessment principles, coupled with the compliance of all ventilation matters relating to legislation and the site safety management system
- Knowledge of Queensland legislative requirements and Australian Mining & Resources sector experience
- Permanent, full-time position
- 7 on, 7 off
