Job Summary

Venous Access Nurse provides expert, evidence-based nursing care for venous access patients and families, including vein assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Responsibilities include administering medications relevant to venous access and imaging protocols, maintaining line care, vein preservation techniques, patient/family education and psychosocial support, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary care team. The role requires critical thinking, clinical research understanding, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and participation in QA/QI projects, with duties spanning education, safety, advocacy, and professional growth within Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing (RN) required
  • Massachusetts RN licensure required
  • BSN strongly preferred; if ADN, BSN must be completed within 4 years
  • Certification in Venous Access Nursing preferred – VA-BC or CRNI
  • 1 year (or equivalent) nursing experience in area where venous access is a primary responsibility
