Job Summary
Experienced Vehicle Technician for Hampshire County Council workshops. Carry out inspections, servicing, repairs and MOT preparation on light and heavy vehicles, including HGVs, using modern diagnostic tools and DVSA standards. Maintain accurate records, respond to breakdowns, and provide roadside assistance as part of a collaborative workshop team. NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) required; DVSA knowledge and a background in vehicle diagnostics essential. Desirable qualifications include HGV/LGV or D1 licence, IRTEC or ADR certification, and welding/fabrication skills. Hours are predominantly Monday to Friday, 37 per week, with overtime/standby opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package; post subject to Basic Disclosure checks.
Required Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Proven experience in a similar vehicle technician role
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of DVSA regulations and standards
- Experience working on HGVs and LGV or D1 licence desirable
- Experience with modern diagnostic tools and software
- Industry certifications such as IRTEC or ADR beneficial
- Welding or fabrication skills beneficial
