Job Summary
Design flight components for the Terran R vehicle using NX/TeamCenter, performing analysis with Nastran, ANSYS, and hand calculations to size primary and secondary structures. Review static and dynamic load inputs, material properties, and test requirements while innovating conceptual load paths to reduce mass and parts. Support hardware test campaigns, develop manufacturing processes, and create drawings for fabrication. Own the design lifecycle from requirements to production, ensuring timely design reviews and drawing releases while documenting work and presenting recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2+ years of experience in a design engineering role
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- Experience with industry-standard CAD packages such as NX, Creo, or Solidworks
- Working knowledge of structural analysis (hand calculation, Finite Elements Methods and industry tools) and test
- Fundamental knowledge of structures strength, stability and fatigue failure mechanisms
- Fundamental knowledge of additive and traditional manufacturing processes
- Full life cycle project ownership experience
- Must be someone who is self-motivated
- Must be adaptable
- Must be able to lead your own projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
- Ideally, you have significant mechanical or structural design experience
- Ideally, you have a proven track record completing collaborative projects effectively
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive experience with NX/TeamCenter
- Expertise using Nastran and ANSYS
- Experience with GD&T and drafting
