Job Summary
Conduct thorough inspections and quality repairs on assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and passenger comfort in revenue service. Maintain all vehicles in accordance with contractual requirements and SP+ Fleet Services standards while performing duties in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Possess or obtain applicable ASE certifications, maintain technical competency through ongoing training, and hold a valid state-issued driver's license with a current DOT Medical Card. Availability to work second, third, and/or weekend shifts may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Valid state-issued driver's license with a current address and acceptable driving record
- DOT Medical Card (Medical Examiner's Certificate)
- All necessary hand tools to perform maintenance duties
- Availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift and/or weekends
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the company
- Ability to add, subtract, two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money
- Ability to stand
- Ability to walk
- Ability to use hands to handle cash and equipment
- Ability to sit occasionally
- Ability to climb or balance occasionally
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Ability to maintain a neat and clean appearance and be in complete uniform at all times
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from approved program at technical school
- Prior experience as a Mechanic or Vehicle Maintenance Technician
- Prior experience with heavy fleet vehicles
- Willingness to obtain all applicable ASE certifications
