Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Oversee day-to-day vehicle maintenance operations by supervising staff, scheduling assignments, authorizing overtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Prioritize work to meet operational needs, coach employees on SAP programming, and conduct inspections, audits, and road tests to diagnose repairs. Perform mechanical duties as required, review work orders, and maintain parts inventory while ensuring accurate paperwork completion. Manage 6-20 employees, including completing reviews and tracking attendance. Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls, nights, weekends, and overtime. Requires 3 years of heavy vehicle maintenance experience and familiarity with OSHA and DOT rules.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
  • Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Must be able to lift 10 lbs
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs
  • Must be able to work outside
  • Must be able to work in changing temperatures
  • Must be able to work in wet/humid conditions
  • Must be able to work in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
  • Must be able to stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl
  • Must be able to climb and/or balance
  • Must be able to sit
  • Must be able to stand/walk
  • 3 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and/or related components
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations

Desired Qualifications

  • Waste industry experience, a plus
  • Management experience preferred
  • Experience working with welding equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with use of repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot
  • Attention to detail and ability to track and maintain documentation
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Computer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, SAP a plus
