Vehicle Maintenance Manager

Job Summary
Manage the maintenance staff by hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, and overseeing performance evaluations and discipline. Control maintenance costs for personnel, purchasing, and outsourcing while maintaining a preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicle safety and operating efficiency. Regularly communicate with operations regarding fleet status, monitor road calls and breakdowns, and conduct investigations for accidents. Enforce quality and safety standards, track employee attendance, and prepare accurate reports. This role requires managing 1 to 10 employees, working flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and 24-hour emergency calls, with overtime availability.
Required Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years of previous management experience
- Must be able to work independently, make decisions, prioritize work, and resolve problems
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Experience with maintaining parts inventory
- Familiarity with the use of repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics is necessary to troubleshoot
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
- Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Ability to travel between offices, as required
- Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of OSHA and DOT, preferred
- 3 - 5 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and related components preferred
