Job Summary
Install vehicle upfits for emergency-related equipment by connecting electrical fittings, drilling holes, soldering, routing wiring, installing electrical wiring, antennas, data and power cabling; disassemble/reassemble vehicle interior components to route wiring; troubleshoot and diagnose equipment; perform installations across a range of vehicle types; complete required documentation; maintain confidentiality of service information; learn new products and techniques from colleagues and manufacturers; maintain a safe/clean work environment.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of technical experience
- Knowledge/experience with installation of systems/equipment in vehicles (two-way radios, controls, lighting, cameras, antennas, GPS, sirens)
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and install
- Basic ability to test/troubleshoot electrical and system issues
- Ability to assemble/disassemble and route wiring, install wiring harnesses, drill holes, solder
- Basic understanding of DC voltage, resistance, and current
- Basic understanding of wire gauges and fuses based on DC current demand
- Ability to use basic tools and test equipment (hand tools, power drills, multimeters, watt meters)
