Job Summary
Perform maintenance and repair activities on heavy equipment, tactical trucks, semi-tractors, and material handling equipment ranging from 4000lb to 40-ton forklifts. Coats surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, or resin using spray guns and rollers, while removing old paint and roughening aluminum with acid solutions to ensure adhesion. Estimate time and materials, keep records, and submit reports of work performed. Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects, dismantle, and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools, replacing defective engines and subassemblies. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on hydraulic systems, brake systems, and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. All work is accomplished in accordance with Army regulations, DA PAMs, Technical Manuals, and Repair Manuals.
Required Qualifications
- At least 24 months hands-on experience
- Excellent understanding of surface preparation and paint application
- Knowledge of proper use and procedures to manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste products
- Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, and materials
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience
- Excellent understanding of mechanical equipment and theory of operation of cranes, tactical vehicles, electrical systems, generators, automotive, HVAC maintenance and other heavy equipment, vehicle repair, electrical, heating systems and diesel maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain a CAC
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources
- Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization
- Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors in bad weather
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, carry lift to 25 lbs.
- Ability to walk and drive for long period of times
- Visual acuity to review written documentation
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal to high levels and on the telephone
- Manual dexterity to operate hand tools
