Job Summary
As Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician III at NCDOT, perform advanced diagnostics and repair of light, medium, and heavy-duty on- and off-road equipment using electrical, hydraulic, and CAN BUS systems. Read electrical and hydraulic schematics; diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems (brakes, steering, tires, transmission, charging and ignition systems, cooling, fuel, hydraulic, air conditioning, instruments, and CAN BUS modules). Complete preventative maintenance, fuel and lube inventory, and assist other technicians; prepare paperwork and maintain site records; may troubleshoot complex systems and rebuild components. Requires ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid NC Class A CDL (N endorsement) or obtain within 360 days, along with pre-employment drug testing and background checks. Tools will be furnished by the employee; safety toe shoes needed. Location: Craven County, NC.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in vehicle/equipment repair
- Possession of a North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with N endorsement or must obtain via on-the-job training within 360 days of hire
- EPA certification Type I, II, III or Universal technician may be required per 40 CFR part 82, subpart F
- Pre-employment drug testing required
