Job Summary
Space Vehicle Engineer – Level 3/4 (onsite) leads satellite-operations activities, performs anomaly investigations, and coordinates system engineers to support mission readiness and in-flight performance. Key duties include providing mission operations support, data trending, operational product updates, conducting anomaly review investigations, developing/modifying procedures, coordinating across contractor organizations, delivering briefings, and providing 24x7 on-call support. The role requires shift work (including 12-hour and night shifts), occasional travel, strong technical writing and presentation skills, and collaboration with customers and partners. Requires Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI, U.S. citizenship, and a Bachelor’s degree with 5–8 years of relevant experience; proficiency in satellite operations disciplines and multiple programming/tools is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Minimum of 5 years (level 3) or 8 years (level 4) of relevant experience
- Active or current Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI at time of application required
- U.S. citizen
- Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines (attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, flight and ground software) and anomaly determination/resolution
- Experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems
- Experience writing technical documents for external customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and maintain composure
- Be able to travel ~10% for customer support or backup mission operations center
- Able to lead/d coordinate a group of engineers/operators
- Preferred: experience with at least one S/C Subsystem (ADCS, CDH, COMM, EPDS, Thermal, FSW)
- Experience with mission simulation, scripting, and verification activities
- Programming skills: MATLAB, Python, SIMULINK, Fortran, Java, C/C++
- Experience with rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) or formation flight
