Vehicle Deputy Chief Engineer

Job Summary

Coordinate and follow up on engineering meetings, capturing minutes and action items while preparing reports, submission letters, and presentations for leadership reviews. Monitor departmental KPIs, manage engineering change requests, and facilitate collaboration across vehicle programs for cost optimization and issue resolution. Perform risk management activities, support PFEP and tender investigations, and assist in preparing weekly progress reports and strategic updates. Submit high-value engineering change requests for executive review and act as technical lead for small-scale projects. Regularly monitor quality KPIs and follow up on corrective actions. This role supports the Chief Engineer in ensuring project deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Automotive Engineering or Product Development
  • Experience with leading automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: BIW (Body in White), Chassis, Interior, Powertrain, or Vehicle Architecture
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in Geometric Dimensions & Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in Manufacturing processes and component development
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in Component manufacturing technologies
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in FEA interpretation and analysis
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in CAD and Teamcenter (as a user)
  • Solid understanding of the full vehicle development lifecycle: product design, testing, process development, logistics, and homologation
  • Familiarity with cost management and cost-walk analysis
  • Working knowledge of project risk management and problem-solving methodologies
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with local and international stakeholders across all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • High level of English proficiency (speaking, listening, reading, writing); capable of accurate translation between English and Vietnamese
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and a collaborative team player
