Job Summary
Perform non-invasive peripheral vascular diagnostic examinations as ordered by physicians, independently evaluating test results to generate preliminary reports for attending physicians, surgeons, and residents. Conduct Sonographic Extracranial Carotid Duplex, Ankle/Brachial Indices, Segmental Doppler Pressures, and Arterial/Venous Duplex exams of the upper and lower extremities, renal vasculature, mesenteric arteries, and aorta. Provide sonographic guidance for vascular access or needle placement for interventional and surgical procedures. Train new Associate Technologists and Vascular Technology Students on non-invasive procedures, anatomy, physiology, equipment operation, and documentation protocols. Present in-services to nursing, medical staff, and hospital associates regarding vascular ultrasound techniques and indications. Maintain equipment, stock supplies, perform quality control, and document patient care using hospital-approved software. Variable schedule with as-needed hours. Requires ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist certification and BLS.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- 1-2 years ultrasound training from an accredited training program
- Must have passed the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) examination
- 1-2 years previous ultrasound Experience (clinical training acceptable)
- BLS Certification
