Vascular Technician I

Job Summary

Conduct non-invasive vascular studies including ultrasound, preparing test results and maintaining equipment and vascular database. Explain test procedures, position patients for diagnostic tests, and monitor patient conditions during and after procedures. Assist physicians in developing new techniques, assess diagnostic test abnormalities, and alert providers to positive results or test abnormalities. Respond to emergencies, transport patients, and schedule appointments while recording patient data using proper CPT and ICD9 codes. Compile data for Quality Assurance, issue reports on findings, and calibrate ultrasound equipment as needed. Maintain sterilized supplies, clean instruments, and coordinate department activities with other departments.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in vascular setting
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in duplex carotid, venous, and peripheral arterial scanning
  • Graduate from an approved ultrasound training program recognized by CAHEA; or equivalent related experience
  • Registered Vascular Technologist Certificate
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of common consequences of vascular trauma, including hemorrhage, hematoma, false aneurysm and arterio-venous fistulae and how non-invasive testing methods may be used to help identify these abnormalities
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology of vascular disease
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, problem solving, interpersonal relations and customer service

  • Associates degree in related field
