Vascular Technician I

Job Summary

Conduct non-invasive vascular studies including ultrasound, duplex carotid, venous, and peripheral arterial scanning. Prepare and process patient data using proper CPT and ICD9 codes while interviewing patients to collect medical history. Operate ultrasound equipment, calibrate machines, and maintain equipment in good working order. Monitor and evaluate patient conditions during and after procedures, alerting physicians to positive test results or abnormalities. Assist physicians in developing new techniques and procedures, and compile data for quality assurance. Schedule appointments, transport patients, and ensure infection control standards are adhered to.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in vascular setting
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in duplex carotid, venous, and peripheral arterial scanning
  • Registered Vascular Technologist Certificate
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of common consequences of vascular trauma, including hemorrhage, hematoma, false aneurysm and arterio-venous fistulae and how non-invasive testing methods may be used to help identify these abnormalities
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology of vascular disease
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, problem solving, interpersonal relations and customer service
  • Graduate from an approved ultrasound training program recognized by CAHEA; or equivalent related experience
