Job Summary
Conduct pre-season meetings with athletes and parents to explain eligibility requirements and establish safety protocols. Organize daily practice schedules, teach sport-specific skills, and maintain a strength and conditioning program while surveying field conditions for environmental hazards. Provide emergency care for athletic injuries, notify guardians, and establish communication with the athletic director, team physician, and school administrators. Counsel students academically through supervised study sessions and tutoring to meet VHSL and NCAA eligibility standards. Monitor grades, absences, and team conduct during practices and games, ensuring adherence to Norfolk School Board and VHSL regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a current certificate in CPR/First Aid
- Hold a VHSL Coaches education certificate
- Represent the school by being dressed appropriately and displaying professional behavior at all times
- Establish communication with team physician, certified athletic trainer, and athletic director
