Job Summary
Lead varsity boys basketball program at the middle school level, supervise a staff of middle school coaches, and ensure implementation of athletic policies. Develop the program philosophy, design conferences and staff meetings to raise awareness of the overall program; train and inform staff, encourage professional growth, and delegate duties while evaluating staff effectiveness. Maintain discipline, oversee equipment and facilities, promote the sport in the school and community, mentor student athletes, monitor academics and conduct, and ensure safety and compliance with rules. Emphasize character development, trust, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship among players; oversee recruitment and public relations efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (preferable).
- The assistant coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- The assistant coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
