Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
• •Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
• •Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
• •Knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations
• •Thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Franklin City Schools' Board of Education
• •Knowledge of proper administrative line of command
• •Knowledge of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance
• •Knowledge of proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites
• •Knowledge of proper forms for completing paperwork on disabling athletic injuries
• •Knowledge of procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary
• •Knowledge of procedures for contracting parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible
• •Knowledge of budgeting function and requirements for the next season
• •Knowledge of equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications
• •Knowledge of accountability for all equipment
• •Knowledge of procedures for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment
• •Knowledge of procedures for marking and identifying all equipment before issuing or storing
• •Knowledge of procedures for authorizing who may enter, issue or requisition equipment
• •Knowledge of procedures for permitting athletes to be in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times
• •Knowledge of procedures for examining locker rooms before and after practices and games
• •Knowledge of procedures for securing all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building
• •Knowledge of procedures for organizing parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings
• •Knowledge of procedures for promoting the sport within the school and outside the school
• •Knowledge of procedures for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans
• •Knowledge of procedures for presenting information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments and results

• •Ability to continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field
• •Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions
• •Ability to establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff
• •Ability to design conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program
• •Ability to train and inform staff
• •Ability to encourage professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy
• •Ability to delegate specific duties, supervise implementation and analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate all assistants
• •Ability to maintain discipline, adjust grievances and work to increase morale and cooperation
• •Ability to perform such other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principal
• •Ability to assist the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events
• •Ability to assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices
• •Ability to coordinate program with maintenance and school employees
• •Ability to provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility
• •Ability to provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites
• •Ability to advise the athletic director and recommend policy, method or procedural changes
• •Ability to serve as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship
• •Ability to give constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct
• •Ability to provide assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant by presence at all practices games and while traveling
• •Ability to provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant
• •Ability to initiate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies
• •Ability to direct student managers, assistants and statisticians
• •Ability to assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection
• •Ability to instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use
• •Ability to organize parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings
• •Ability to promote the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program
• •Ability to promote the sport outside the school through news media, little league programs, or in any other feasible manner
• •Ability to maintain good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans
• •Ability to present information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments and results
