Job Summary
Drive vehicles from the community to social and various destinations according to the assigned schedule, assisting residents into and out of the vehicle while securing wheelchairs to restraining devices. Coordinate vehicle pre-maintenance, maintenance, and repairs, including cleaning, servicing with fuel and lubricants, and reporting issues to ensure longevity. Establish and monitor daily and weekly trip inspection and preventative maintenance programs, maintaining records and performing emergency repairs such as tire changes. Submit daily travel expense charges to the business office and handle emergency situations with basic First Aid. Maintain a safe driving record and report potentially unsafe conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Passenger Endorsed License
- High school diploma or general education degree GED
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- Five years proven safe and accident-free driving record
- knowledge of vehicle preventative maintenance programs
- ability to operate 7 to 16 passenger bus, limousine or car
- ability to operate tire changing equipment
- ability to operate First Aid Kit
- ability to operate wheelchair lift
- ability to operate dollies/hand trucks
- experience with vehicle emergency repairs
- ability to change automobile tires
- ability to handle minor on-road maintenance
- knowledge of all streets within an 8-mile radius of the community
- ability to demonstrate a high level of service delivery
- ability to ensure customer satisfaction
- ability to deal with service failures
- ability to prioritize customer needs
- ability to clearly present information through the spoken word
- ability to read and interpret complex information
