Job Summary
Valve Specialist responsible for the construction, repair, testing, and support of tank car valves and fittings. Disassemble and assemble fittings on tank cars; test tank car, fittings, and valves to detect defects; rebuild tank car fittings and valves using specified procedures; identify and repair leaks in tank car coils; conduct single-car brake tests when required; maintain a clean, organized work area and report potential safety hazards. Requires reading and following safety rules and maintenance instructions, strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work independently or in a team, and willingness to work overtime in a unionized manufacturing environment. Work performed on-site five days a week in Cleveland, TX with potential for overtime; PPE and safety protocols observed; physical demands include lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to pass a Combined Basic Skills Assessment Test
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and assembly documents
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work any shift, including overtime per union contract
- Dependable attendance and reliability
