Job Summary
Own the mechanical design integrity of B-Series products by evaluating production, field, and supplier issues to determine root causes and drive corrective actions. Execute engineering changes and lead structured root cause investigations using methods like 5 Why and Fishbone to eliminate recurrence. Serve as the primary technical authority for non-conforming products, managing disposition, NCR/MRB escalations, and containment while partnering with Supplier Quality Engineering to sustain improvements. Provide direct hands-on support to manufacturing operations, validate First Article Inspections, and lead Kaizen activities focused on yield, defect reduction, and cost effectiveness. Ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution while supporting a zero defect culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 8+ years of experience in a mechanical design role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of Mechanical design principles
- Strong understanding of Manufacturing processes (machining, casting, assembly, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Material selection and machine elements
- Experience with 3D and 2D CAD creation (Creo and AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Experience with BOM management and engineering change processes
- Experience with Root cause analysis and structured problem solving
- Experience working cross-functionally in a manufacturing or value stream environment
