Job Summary
Operate vacuum furnaces in accordance with job routers, work instructions, and technique sheets while loading and unloading materials safely. Set up furnace programs, recipes, temperatures, pressures, and cycle parameters, then monitor performance throughout heat-treating cycles. Maintain accurate production and quality documentation, verify customer specifications, and conduct daily inspections of equipment, pumps, and instrumentation. Troubleshoot minor issues and coordinate shift handoffs to incoming operators. Perform visual quality checks, maintain a clean 5S work area, and support preventive maintenance activities. This night shift role ensures production schedules, product quality, and equipment reliability are maintained at the San Antonio Service Center.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience operating vacuum furnaces
- Knowledge of vacuum heat treatment processes, including hardening, tempering, annealing, quenching, brazing, and burnouts
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Basic understanding of metallurgy and heat-treatment principles
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night shifts
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel)
