V&V Engineer, Firmware

Job Summary
Execute vehicle characterization and derive requirements with bidirectional traceability to test evidence. Support mechanical or electrical DVP&R by planning and executing functional and performance testing on prototypes and production hardware. Build and maintain HIL benches, automate regression testing, and troubleshoot firmware issues while leading root cause analysis. Cooperate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical V&V and Design for Test, and document results for program leadership. Manage compliance testing and certification processes, including ISO 26262 and UL 4600 standards, while coordinating with external accredited laboratories. Evolve the V&V methodology and automation toolchain, and assess new OEM processes to determine level of effort and complexity.
Required Qualifications
- 5 + years in an Electrical or Firmware / Software V&V role, especially automotive
- Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering
- Understand all aspects of an automotive DV/PV process
- Deep understanding of the automotive PPAP process
- Working knowledge with automotive APQP
- Experience working directly with Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 & 2 suppliers
- On your feet knowledge of International automotive environmental and safety standards, including ASTM B117, SAE J1455, or ISO 16750 and 11451/11452
- Working knowledge of AEC standards
- Ability to adjust V&V Process to support various OEMs
- Experience with CANbus, Python, Shell, Unix OS, SPICE
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Technical experience in developing self-driving vehicles
- Experience with the NRTL (UL) and CE certification
- Experience directly instrumenting cars and trucks to model the mechanical or electrical system and / or perform shock, vibration, EMC testing
- Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS, Polarion
- Accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, and Weibull or reliability demonstration analysis
- Ability to perform risk analysis and prevention, FMEA, FTA, RCA
