Job Summary
Identify and classify unexploded ordnance and discarded military munitions, then excavate and move acceptable items. Determine precise field locations using global positioning equipment, topographical maps, and compasses. Perform field collection procedures to identify contaminated soil and prepare on-site holding areas for munitions with acceptable movement risk. Operate transportation modes for moving cleared UXO and perform limited technical supervision of sweep personnel. Escort non-operational personnel within exclusion areas and inspect material potentially presenting an explosive hazards. Requires high school diploma, prior military EOD experience, or three years in response munitions response, plus formal UXO training. Schedule includes physical activities such as climbing, lifting, and balancing.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- prior military EOD experience
- three years experience in response munitions response actions or range clearance activities
- Graduate of formal UXO training course of instruction
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assistant courses required
- basic and the underwater portions of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) training
- foreign equivalent to NAVSCOLEOD training
- Problem Sensitivity

- Utilizing detection equipment and geophysical sensing equipment to locate UXOs
