Job Summary
Conduct user research, information architecture, and prototyping while applying design thinking and strategic design methods to invent new experiences. Manage visual and graphic design, front-end coding, and Lean UX processes to adapt artifacts for the squad, ensuring alignment with design systems. Communicate design decisions effectively across phone, video, and writing channels while teaching others and improving existing designs. Requires 8+ years of experience, US citizenship or eligible visa status, and a passion for design. Located in Durham, NC with remote options, this 12+ month contract seeks a UX Designer with a clear, compassionate design sense.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen, Green Card, EAD-GC, J2 EAD, H4 EAD, L2 EAD, and TN Visa
- minimum 08+ years of experience
- clear and compelling design sense grounded in compassion and thoughtfulness
- aptitude and enthusiasm for working in teams
- willingness to help your team complete tasks outside the realm of design, if necessary
- broad set of design skills, which might include visual and graphic design, information architecture, prototyping, front-end coding, strategic design methods (such as design thinking), user research, or writing
- ability to get a little nerdy about at least one of the design skills above
- understanding, or willingness to learn, the principles of Lean UX and how to adapt your process, activities and artifacts to best serve the squad
- familiarity with the value of design systems and how to use them
- ability to communicate well, whether on the phone, over video, in writing, or in person
- enjoyment of learning
- willingness to happily teach others
