Job Summary
Senior Reporter for BBC Cymru Wales News & Current Affairs (Welsh language required) based in Cardiff. Focus on discovering and delivering original stories shaping the agenda for South East Wales. Digital-first storytelling for BBC Cymru Wales TV and radio, with live reports from locations. Expect to work flexibly, contribute across platforms, and represent diverse communities. Key responsibilities include identifying and developing original stories, delivering digital-first content for online platforms, live broadcasting in Welsh and English, and collaborating with producers, editors, and newsroom teams to ensure high-quality, audience-focused journalism.
Required Qualifications
- Experience reporting on original stories
- Ability to uncover and produce original stories
- Written and spoken proficiency in Welsh (Cymraeg) and English
- Ability to report live from locations
- Understanding of editorial policies and legal considerations
- Experience working with digital platforms and producing content for digital First
- Collaborate with producers and editors across teams
- Contribute to audience-focused journalism for diverse communities
- Ability to work flexibly and in a busy newsroom
- Knowledge of social media and adapting stories for different platforms
- Strong storytelling and visual reporting skills
- Comfort with multi-platform broadcast including TV, radio, and online
