UTILITY WORKER - Water Meter Installer

Job Summary
Install, replace, and repair water meters for residential, commercial, and industrial customers; read and record meter data accurately; communicate with customers to explain installation processes and address questions; perform routine inspections and maintenance of water-meter equipment; ensure safety protocols and regulatory guidelines are followed on-site, including traffic control and confined space entry when necessary; collaborate with team members to coordinate schedules and respond to emergency repairs or service interruptions; maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent; operate and troubleshoot tools and equipment, with basic proficiency in data collection via mobile devices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions
- Basic knowledge of water meter systems and construction site safety practices
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and flexible to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Previous experience in water meter installation or utility work (preferred)
- Certification in confined space entry or OSHA safety training (preferred)
- Familiarity with hand and power tools used in meter installation and repair (preferred)
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills (preferred)
- Experience using mobile devices or software for data collection and reporting (preferred)
