Job Summary
Change and replace 5/8" through 1" size meters and meter box lids, clean out meter boxes, and assist in flushing and maintaining water mains, service lines, and fire hydrants. Perform general maintenance on station and treatment plant equipment, adjust or replace meter boxes as necessary, and collect water samples to a minor extent. Notify for shutdowns and perform work on assigned locations while adhering to NPDES rules and water quality specifications. Requires a High School diploma, valid California Class C Driver's license, and California State Water Distribution Operator II certification. Salary ranges from $42.01 to $48.23 based on step and duration. Apply by Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- A UW must be able to effectively communicate with their supervisor, co-workers, and the public
- Have the ability to perform basic mathematic functions to calculate figures
- Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver's license
- Must be insurable under the Company's policy
- Must have a working knowledge of basic features of word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word) and electronic mail processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Outlook)
- Must be able to work without supervision
- Must have an understanding and knowledge of water quality specifications for chlorine content, pH, water temperature, other essential water quality parameters, as well as National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) rules and regulations
- California State Water Distribution Operator II certification is required
