Job Summary
Perform gas distribution system maintenance, surveys, leak management, and emergency response. Use GIS/GPS mapping software and gas CMS, test company equipment (CGI combustible gas indicators, FIU flame ionization units, LMD laser methane detectors, PMD portable detectors), prepare construction/maintenance orders, and ensure compliance with NFPA 54 and DOT requirements. Maintain equipment and records, interact with customers/regulatory authorities, and operate within a 40-hour week with wage range $30.78–$49.19 per hour. Requires Maine State Gas License (or obtain within 2 years), Class A CDL within 24 months, and OQ certification. On-call standby and field duties in the Portland, ME area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of related field experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid Maine State Gas License, or obtain within two years
- Must reside within the specified geographic call area and respond within 30 minutes to gas leak emergencies
- Must be able to obtain Operator Qualification (O.Q.) certification based upon the requirements set forth in DOT 49 CFR 192, Subpart N
- Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License within 24 months of employment
- Requires CDL and Driver Qualification File
- Will be drug tested under the PHMSA and FMCSA drug pool
