Job Summary
Utility/Water Treatment Technician (Level III or IV) role in Alberta with AFIMAC Canada. Operate machines and tools in municipal water treatment facilities, troubleshoot complex issues, read blueprints, and optimize plant performance. Requires Level III/IV Water Treatment certification, a valid Class 5 or G driver’s license, and a minimum of 3 years of experience. Duties include remote system monitoring, collaboration with other departments, physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, confined spaces), and strong English communication. Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts, 6 days per week when assigned; includes travel, lodging accommodations when required, and meals with allowances. Training in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred; ability to read drawings and perform calculations for volume, flow, and chemical dosage. Required Qualifications
- Hold a valid Level III or Level IV Water Treatment certificate
- Must have a valid Class 5 or G driver's license
- Minimum 3 years experience
- Fluent command of the English language (written and verbal)
- Ability to operate machines, mobile equipment and tools used in municipal Water Treatment Facilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Read and interpret blueprints & drawings
- Strong mathematical skills related to calculations for volume, flow, velocity, chemical dosage, consumption
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, and handling hazardous chemicals
- Ability to provide technician guidance on assignments
- Collaborate with other departments
- Provide assistance to rural water treatment facilities by remote system monitoring
- Physically able to bend, lift, stand and reach
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
