Job Summary
Operate utility construction equipment to dig, install, and backfill excavations for water and wastewater facilities; perform routine maintenance on excavation equipment and forklift; install and replace water/mains, services, meters, and fire hydrants with associated appurtenances; repair and operate wastewater collection and water distribution systems; conduct hydrant and blow-off flushing, flow tests, and leak surveys; maintain accurate daily records of work performed, time, and materials; respond to emergencies after hours and participate in on-call duty; apply safety policies and provide excellent customer service; use maps and technical documentation to locate and manage utilities; leverage basic computer skills and MS Office for reporting and recordkeeping.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1-2 years water and wastewater utility work experience
- Valid New Jersey State driver's license
- Ability to drive to job site
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and up to 100 lbs
- Ability to respond to emergencies after hours/on-call
- Basic computer skills and MS Office proficiency
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to read maps and interpret policies
