Job Summary
Conduct installation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater collection systems, facilities, and related equipment. Respond to water leaks, wastewater backups, and citizen inquiries while troubleshooting flow problems and locating lines using GIS or maps. Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, front-end loaders, and rooters to clear obstructions and maintain fire hydrants, sidewalks, and curbs. Perform routine safety inspections, maintain tools, and organize supplies for assigned work areas. Work normal hours from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with occasional on-call callbacks for emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain Water Operator D or Wastewater Collection Operator I license within a year of hire
- Must possess a Water Distribution Operator C or Wastewater Collection Operator II license
- Must possess a Water Distribution Operator C or Wastewater Collection Operator III license
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Texas driver's license
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Must be able to obtain a Class D Water or a Collection I Wastewater license within one (1) year from the date of hire or date moved to the position
- Must be able to lift up to 85 pounds
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential
- Must be able to work in stressful situations
Desired Qualifications
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (Preferred)
